According to a statement of Al Izz Islamic Bank, they have elected members of the board. The elections have taken place a month after the initial public offer of the bank's shares. The chairman, who is to lead a board of six members, is Taimur Bin As'ad Al Said. Last month, the bank sold 40% of its capital through a month-long IPO and thus managed to raise 40 million rials ($104 million). Moreover, Al Izz will list on the Muscat Securities Market on December 3rd.
After Oman allowed sharia-compliant lending last year, new Islamic banks are bolstering their balance sheets in order to challenge the sultanate's larger conventional lenders. Al Izz Islamic bank recently enabled subscription for its initial public offering of 40 per cent of the lender and reports strong interest. In addition, in June 2012 Bank Nizwa attracted 681m rials ($1.77bn) of bids in a successful share sale, which exceeds the necessary amount 11 times. However, competition is not to be underestimated.

According to a study by Al Izz Islamic Bank, the assets of Islamic banks in Oman are expected to pass the mark of RO 2 billion by 2015. The assets of Islamic banks in the country represent 10% of the total banking assets. The study further points out several factors which stimulate Islamic monetary services the most. Among them are demographic indicators, since 72% of the Sultanate's population is aged between 15 and 80 and is mostly Muslim. The concept of Islamic financing is strongly supported by the population.

Al Izz Islamic Bank plans to launch an initial public share offer (IPO) for 40 percent of the bank. the bank has set a goal to raise 40 million rials ($104 million) in this way. The offer will be opened on September 22 and will run for one month. Shares in Al Izz's offering will be priced at 0.1 rials each. Both local and foreign investors can make use of the shares with the condition that foreign investors are only allowed to have up to 70 percent of the offering.
Al Izz Islamic Bank has announced the lunch of its IPO by next month. The bank has already received approval from the regulatory authority. According to bank officials, the shares should probalbly be listed on the stock market as soon as in September.
A group from Aabar Investments plans to set up the first Islamic bank in Oman - Al Izz Islamic Bank. The promotion of the bank is conducted under the supervision of Abu Dhabi's Aabar , Oman's Huriah Company and Dubai-based Tasameem Real Estate Company. The bank's role will be to provide comprehensive business and retail Islamic banking solutions in accordance with Omani law.
