Sharakah is Oman’s fund that supports prospective entrepreneurs in the establishment and running of their own businesses in the Sultanate. It provides capital and assistance in order to develop the SME sector and generate job opportunities. So far, Sharakah has supported more than 50 businesses in 13 years. It also regularly takes part in exhibitions, among which the annual Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Exhibition and Conference aiming to help it reach out to budding entrepreneurs.
BankDhofar has chosen Deloitte & Touche for a market assessment and feasibility study into the launching of an Islamic Window at the Bank. This study comes after the Royal Decree launched last year by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, which agrees with the establishment of Islamic Banking in the Sultanate.
BankDhofar is committed to the implementation of Islamic financial services and has already invested in some training programmes for its executives providing them with insights into planning and acquiring Islamic banking products and services. The bank has also chosen a new Head of Islamic Banking, to prepare the Bank to manage this new service through dedicated Islamic windows.
BankMuscat lead a series of customised Islamic banking courses. The learning and development solutions for staff is as part of the bank’s commitment to launch Islamic banking products and services in accordance with the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.
The bank produced the courses so that they provide general awareness modules that imparted broad-based knowledge and skills of the Islamic finance principles, which are derived from the Holy Quran.
