#Meezan Bank, #ISRA sign #MoU to promote #Islamic #financing

Meezan Bank, Pakistan's first and largest Islamic bank, has recently signed a multi-faceted Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Shari'ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA), aimed at jointly expanding the role of Islamic finance through collaborations on various aspects of this field.
This comprehensive MoU further sets out a clear roadmap for research into the domains of Shariah and Islamic finance that should be facilitated by exchange of best practices in research and training. Meezan Bank would also be providing joint services with respect to arrangement of seminars, conferences, workshops and short-term courses.
While commenting on this agreement, Irfan Siddiqui said: "This MoU recognises the critical need for addressing the Islamic finance challenges through collaborations and partnerships in order to meet the heightened demand for Islamic banking products and services. The Meezan Bank is committed to develop and promote Shariah-compliant finance industry and we are quite hopeful that this agreement would enhance opportunities through increased exposure and knowledge sharing."

International Shari'ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) to Support the Responsible Finance Summit

The Responsible Finance Summit has announced the support of the International Shari'ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) for the Summit. The Summit, which will be hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia, will include the participation of ISRA's Executive Director Prof. Dr. Mohamad Akram Laldin, who will join a panel session on the popular perceptions about responsible finance and how Islamic finance can contribute to expanding its appeal to a wider audience. The Summit, organized by RFI Foundation and co-organized by Middle East Global Advisors, also represents a setting for ISRA to highlight its work in applied Shari'ah research on Islamic finance, particularly on ethical dimensions of Islamic finance.

ISRA and SC launch joint publication on "Islamic Capital Markets: principles and practices"

The International Shari'ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) and the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) have launched a joint publication on "Islamic Capital Markets: Principles and Practices." The textbook serves as a vital source of reference to academicians, students and practitioners on the key principles underlying the Islamic capital market operations and its practices. It covers a variety of topics related to Islamic capital markets, including Shari'ah, regulatory and corporate governance frameworks, risk management, accounting and taxation, sukuk, the equity market, unit trust funds, ETFs, REITs, private equity and venture capital, derivatives and structured products. As the co-publisher and co-sponsor of the textbook, the SC is confident that the textbook will enhance the skills of the Islamic capital market talent pool.
